FANRPAN Role: Work Package 2 • Objectives • Create an enabling environment for successful partnerships in ARD • Improve participation of non-research stakeholders (CSOs, FOs, private sector organizations, government) in conceptualizing, implementing and evaluating innovative multi stakeholders research projects. • Outputs for 2012 • Proposals for farmer led partnerships in ARD • Updated PAEPARD stakeholders database • Trained Agricultural Innovation Facilitators (AIFs) • Proceedings of regional workshop to develop research questions (April 2012) • 3 case studies • Proceedings of continental workshop in Tanzania (Sept. 2012)

Background to CAADP • Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) • A strategic framework agreed upon by African Heads of State to guide agricultural development on the continent • Objective: Commit 10% of national budgets to agriculture and attain average annual growth rate of 6% • Reduce poverty by 50% by 2015
