Controlled Assessments • Students have completed their 5 controlled assessments. • Where these controlled assessments are below target grade, students are being given the opportunity to retake these assessments. • English Language controlled assessments = 40% of the final GCSE mark. • English Literature controlled assessment = 25% of the final GCSE mark.

  14. You can help by ensuring that: • Students attend the necessary clinics and complete any follow up work • Students read for 20 minutes each night • You check Vocabulary books and that spellings have been learnt • You discuss their “words of the week” with them to improve vocabulary • All homework is completed • Students have access to a range of non-fiction materials for English Language examination preparation and revision of the necessary skills • Students are revising from an early stage

  16. Assessment 2 terminal exams – 1 non calculator, and 1 calculator (both papers are 1hr 45mins) • Key features: • Functional element (up to 40%) • QWC – 5% • Method marks

  20. Final Assessment • 3 x one hour, tiered written exam containing a mixture of question styles including short answer and extended writing questions. (Externally Assessed in May & June) • Science controlled assessment made up of 3 parts; Planning, Observations & Conclusions. (Internally Assessed)

External Exams • Core Biology Exam: Tuesday 13th May (1 hour) • Core Chemistry Exam: Thursday 15th May (1 hour) • Core Physics Exam: Monday 19th May (1 hour) • Additional Biology: Friday 6th June (1 hour) • Additional Chemistry: Tuesday 10th June (1 hour) • Additional Physics: Thursday 12th June (1 hour) • Extension Biology: Monday 16th June (1 hour) • Extension Chemistry: Thursday 19th June (1 hour) • Extension Physics: Monday 23rd June (1 hour)

  22. Controlled Assessment • Should have been completed at the end of the Summer term. • Grade boundaries have changed considerably since last year. • Some students may need to re-take their CA during after school sessions.

  23. Assessments & Mocks • Assessments will be completed in class after each topic to monitor progress throughout the year. • These will consist of exam style questions. • Year 10 Mock exams will take place in March. • Year 11 Mock exams will take place in November.

  24. Homework Year 10: Wednesday Week A Tuesday Week B Year 11: Monday Week A Monday Week B Homework will consist of extended writing questions and other tasks and will be available on Moodle.
