DEP Philosophy “Develop once. Use many times.” “Don’t reinvent the wheel.” • We are interested in technology and application transferability, reusability, and modularity. • We are interested in coordination and partnering opportunities. • We are interested in leveraging available IT assets, initiatives, existing infrastructures, etc.
“Multiple options, multiple costs.” A government organization cannot favor one class of citizens over another. In order to attract the largest number of citizens, we must offer different options such as XML, UDF, web forms, and even paper. “Build components common to the enterprise so that all can share.” security registration submittal review archive financial outreach, education and training common data warehouse DEP Philosophy
DEP’s Enterprise Approach Benefits • Avoids “stove pipe,” one use, throw away solutions. • Lends itself to data integration. • Takes care of security, archival, financial, etc. for the user in a standardized way. • “Levels the playing field.” • Forces the program to focus on its business needs and its application. • Reduced marginal cost for each business area/program.
