Summary GREEN supports the Enterprise Europe Network to provide 1st level environmental services to SMEs from the food industry and manufacturing of building materials sectors. GREEN proposes a network of local systems to coordinate ESPs in order to give SMEs access to free and low cost environmental services, thanks also to the support of local administrations, SMEs associations and relevant value chain stakeholders. The effectiveness of the local actions will be ensured by signing local cooperation agreements.
Objectives The strategic objectives of the GREEN project are: • To contribute to the improvement of environmental performances of SMEs in Europe • To support the Enterprise Europe Network in tackling environmental issues in the following specific economic sectors: • food industry • manufacturing of building materials

WP1 – preparatory study Objectives • to obtain a state-of-the art picture of the current Environmental measures supporting SMEs in the food industry and construction material sector • to compare strengths and needs in the project areas • to evaluate current situation in the project areas and provide inputs to local/regional/national/EU policy makers • to have a first approach to both offer and demand of environmental services in the project areas
WP2 – Service methodology and local cooperation agreements Objectives • To create the basis for local cooperation with public authorities, SMEs and Environmental Service Providers: 1 - strategy to establish partnerships 2 - methodology for providing services • To consolidate relationships with local Environmental Service Providers
WP3 - training Objectives • to enable EEN staff from partner regions to provide 1st level environmental services (2 training sessions: Italy and Slovenia) • to share and enable EEN staff to implement the service methodology at local level • to enable local ESPs to cooperate with EEN at local level • to get EEN staff from regions outside GREEN project countries involved in 1st level service training sessions
WP4 – Environmental Services provisioning Objectives • To implement an environmental service strategy in the GREEN project regions • To increase profitability of local SMEs • To improve environmental performances of local SMEs • To expand local production to greener products
WP5 – Communication, dissemination and networking Objectives • To communicate and disseminate the knowledge generated by the project and all relevant knowledge available at EU level • To create a communication platform at EU level for both SMEs and EEN members • To exploit the results of the project after its lifecycle
