  3. Symptoms • Slow learners. • Less interest in studies. • Talkative. • Silent/Naughty. • Pay less attention. • Not asks question. • Not obey orders. • Ineffective communication skill • Reading/ Writing problem. • Shyness. • Not mixing with other students. • Lack of self confidence.

  4. CAUSES • POVERTY • LESS RESOURCES • LACK OF GUIDANCE • FEAR

  5. MAIN CAUSES Within the pupil Environmental factors

Within the pupil • Physical illness( tonsillites, sinusitis, gastrointestinal) • Physical handicaps (Hearing and visual ) • Intelligence(low masked, superior) • Personality factors (shy & timid, insecurity, overprotective, maladjustment, complexes, phobias, escape mechanisms) • Lack of physiological maturity • Age of child

  8. Over crowded classrooms • Lack of encouragement • Ineffective teaching • Unhealthy teacher-pupil relationship • Strict & rejecting teacher • Critical remarks • Teacher with psychological problem • Change of teacher

  10. Improper environment • Attitude of parents ( disharmony, nagging and fault finding, excessive punishment, undue comparison with siblings and other children, labeling, partiality) • Unfavorable peer interaction • Culturally deprived • Lack of play

  13. Help develop correct study habits • Ascent the positive • Avoid pressure, criticism, comparisons, labeling • Help establishing Short Term and Long Term goals • Individualised instructions • Minimal threat and punishment • Boost self esteem, self concept • Refer for further professional care
