    13. 13 Application of SB 1209 Professional development for Induction Participants must: Meet an identified need for the participant, Be focused at or applicable to the participant’s teaching assignment, AND Be an application of the knowledge and skills acquired in the Teacher Preparation Program.

    15. 15 What does this mean for Program Directors? Program Directors: MUST understand the new standards—Common Standards, Program Standards and Preconditions Review program in light of the new standards and work with stakeholders to modify the Induction Program Revise the Program Narrative while implementing the program

    16. 16 What does this mean for Support Providers & Professional Development Providers? 1) Directors must assist SPs and PDPs (and other stakeholders) to understand the shift in focus for Induction. 2) SPs and PDPs must work with individual PTs to meet their identified goals.

    17. 17 What does this mean for PTs? Each participating teacher will have a system of support and mentoring that effectively transitions him or her from teacher preparation to Induction and from Induction to professional educator.

    18. 18 What does this mean for PTs? 2. Each participating teacher will develop professionally while demonstrating the application of the California Standards of the Teaching Profession (CSTP), concepts of pedagogy, and instructional practices consistent with providing universal access and equity for all students.

Each participating teacher will collect evidence of practice through the formative assessment system to improve teaching as measured by each standard of the CSTP and in relation to the state adopted academic content standards and performance levels for students.

    21. Induction Standards

    22. 22 Induction is a Standards driven program. All approved induction programs must meet the adopted standards and preconditions. Induction programs are moving into the Commission’s Accreditation System—accreditation site visit reports go to the Committee on Accreditation (COA) and a decision is made about the ongoing accreditation status. BTSA Programs are state-funded Induction Programs.

    31. 31 Responding to the Common Standards Develop your program’s response after November 6. Narrative must tell ‘HOW’ your program(s) meets the statements in the Common Standard. Think about evidence to support the narrative. Discuss narrative in the ‘Triad Read Arounds’.

    53. 53 Responsible to meet standards All approved Induction Programs are responsible for revising their program to meet the new standards (Common and Program). Programs will demonstrate that they meet the standards through the evaluation and/or accreditation system beginning in 2009-10.
