  1. SERVICE FELLOWSHIP PAUL HARRIS SUMMARY OF THE PAUL HARRIS SERVICE FELLOWSHIP

  2. Key Purpose of Program • To cultivate, reinforce and promote a culture of volunteerism and service through a program of recognition. • We reward what we value. • The PHSF program rewards, by recognition, those individuals (including non-Rotarians) who provide volunteer service to others. • The PHSF program is meant to reinforce our values and our motto of – “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.”

  3. Description of Program • Akin to our Paul Harris Fellowship program of recognition of financial contribution to the Rotary Foundation, individuals and clubs are recognized by their accumulated hours of service contribution. • Each Individual Volunteer’s service time is documented on a Rotary Club’s Service Log Book monthly or periodically. • Both individuals and clubs are recognized for their aggregate service time contributions.

  4. Procedure & Implementation: • Each participating member maintains a record of his / her service hours and reports the total hours monthly. • The clubs provide a monthly report of the total service time of its members in the monthly attendance report. • The DG receives an accumulated quarterly report of members who have attained a PHSF and the total volunteer service time of each club from the District Chair of the volunteer Committee.

  5. Criteria for Credits • Time given to any of the four Avenues of Service, as well as District and RI Service. • Preparation for & attendance of Committee meetings of club, district or RI • International Service – Actual time of service activity • NIDs – Standard credit = 40 hours/trip/week • Participation in Interact, Rotaract activities, etc. • Time for preparation of meetings (club presidents) • District Conference – 4 hours for first time attendance • (the only non-service exception)

  6. Examples of Exclusions: • Basically non-service related Rotary activity such as: • club meetings • club social event • travel time • learning activities • other than those directly benefiting the club, i.e. Assembly, etc.
