  1. How To Conduct A Technical Website Audit Quick Summary: A Website audit is an examination of page performance preceding vast scope search engine optimization (SEO) or a website redesign. In this Article, You'll see what functional areas you can and ought to improve and learn how to audit your website. A website audit is an examination of page performance preceding vast scope search engine optimization (SEO) or a website redesign. Auditing your website can determine whether it’s optimized to achieve your traffic objectives, and if not, how you can improve it to increase performance. This little website audit checklist will get you directly to the actual point. Why audit your website? Indeed, checking its health needn’t bother with any reasoning behind it. Try not to be misdirected by Google: the website audit isn’t just about SEO. It is about design and UX, the lead generation process on your website and simplicity of administering the website, content of the website, and interaction with social media (as HubSpot specialists consider). In this Article, You’ll see what functional areas you can and ought to improve and learn how to audit your website.

  2. Why You Should Not Avoid Technical Audit? A Digital Audit is important for identifying potential problems that could be hindering your website’s marketing performance. To get around these issues and make sure your site is working efficiently, you’ll need to conduct regular technical audits. Your website is your online presence. It’s where you get leads and make sales. If it isn’t performing well, you are losing money. That’s why it’s important that when your site has issues, you fix them immediately rather than ignoring them—that’s what most people do. We see hundreds of sites every month and while some of these websites have yet to be indexed by Google or other search engines, all of them were alive on their respective domains at one point in time. Read Also:- How Do You Perform a Digital Marketing Audit? There will always be workarounds for those who want to continue using an underperforming website even if its downtime or lack of functionality is costing them real money. As such, we believe businesses should take advantage of any opportunity available to ensure that their website performs optimally and looks great doing so. This includes conducting regular technical audits so you can identify potential problems early and address them quickly before they become too costly. The point of all of this is that Marketing Audit should become a part of any business owner’s routine; if anything looks out-of-place or seems inefficient on your website, don’t just assume it’s going to fix itself or assume someone else will take care of it. The Benefits Of Conducting An Audit:- It’s critical for any digital business, regardless of Digital Marketing Strategy or industry, to conduct regular audits. Doing so can help you ensure your website is meeting all of its objectives and helps identify pain points (and potential opportunities) that may exist in your overall digital strategy. In addition, conducting regular audits ensures that you remain aware of any web security threats or deficiencies and can address them quickly before they become more serious issues. And finally, if you do an audit regularly then it’s easier to measure progress against your KPIs over time. If you don’t have a formal process in place yet, now is as good a time as any to start!

  3. What Can You Do With Your Website Audit? If you know how to code, you’ll be able to tell if there are any serious errors on your website that might affect user experience. However, if you don’t have web development skills or are simply looking for a third-party perspective on your website, then hiring an outside agency might be in order. Once you have someone in place who knows what they’re doing, they will spend time testing different aspects of your site and looking for specific issues that could affect usability or search engine optimization (SEO). With over 2 million websites online right now, it can be hard enough just having one online; consider taking care of any technical issues before they become too problematic. There are a few ways to do so: Use some basic Google searches (or other keyword search engines) to see if anyone else has had similar problems. Also, try reaching out directly to people who work with similar sites – chances are good that they already ran into some of these issues themselves. Read Also:– What is SEO Audit? Why and How Do You Do an SEO Audit? Ways To Conduct A Technical Website Audit Be aware that there is no universal solution for every issue as every website is unique – which means you’ll need multiple solutions tailored specifically towards your needs. At minimum, though, running through these steps should give you plenty of ideas about where and how you

  4. can improve things like SEO optimization or mobile accessibility. In addition, remember not to discount what others have done in their own attempts at addressing these problems! Step 1 – Define Your Goals And Objectives:- Before Getting started, you should always write down your goals and objectives. For example, Do you want to conduct an audit for SEO purposes? Or are you trying to find technical issues that might prevent people from purchasing products on your site? Consider how you plan on using the information before getting started. Otherwise, it can be hard to track progress later in your audit. Evaluate Your Website: Once you know what you’re looking for, start evaluating your website. Begin by creating a list of all potential problems that could exist with your. Then start investigating each problem one-by-one until you feel confident that all major issues have been resolved. Remember: You don’t need to fix everything at once! It’s better to prioritize based on which problems will yield immediate results. Test Your Fixes: After fixing each issue, you should test whether or not they were actually fixed. This is especially important if there were any changes made to files or code. If possible, try testing them yourself first—but if not, hire someone else to do so for you. That way, you can confirm that your fixes worked as intended and give yourself peace of mind when moving forward with other aspects of your business strategy. Step 2 – Set Up Your Site Audit Spreadsheet:- Before we begin analyzing any websites, We must first decide on our data columns. Since these columns are often referred to throughout your website audit, it’s crucial that you take some time and set them up properly in advance. In order to create my site audit spreadsheet, I use Google Docs and add in each data column on a new tab.

  5. Collecting Data: Now that we have created our spreadsheet, it’s time to collect all of our relevant data. As mentioned earlier, there are many ways you can do so depending on what type of information you need and how much effort you want to put forth. Here is an overview of how I collect all of my different types of information using various methods: Analyzing Data & Creating Reports: Once all of your data has been collected, you can then start analyzing everything. Step 3 – Explore Each Page On Your Site Individually:- Once you’ve explored your entire site in its entirety, it’s time to take a deeper dive into specific pages. The only way you can accurately do that is by first taking each page and breaking it down into pieces. There are three main parts of any web page: Links – Links can be links back to other pages on your site or links pointing outside of your site. These should always point directly towards their target or be broken links and not redirects or re-directs. If you are linking offsite, make sure that those sites don’t violate any of Google’s guidelines for link building such as no keyword stuffing within anchor text, meta tags etc. Text – This is everything else including content, images, forms and so forth. Make sure that all of your content has been properly coded with HTML tags (as opposed to things like Flash). Images – All images need alt attributes for accessibility purposes as well as descriptive file names. Additionally, if an image is loading slowly or has been compressed too much (which often happens when hosting multiple images from one source), you may want to consider breaking up your image files so they load faster. Other things to look out for include dead links (images and/or hyperlinks) and missing alt attributes on images.

  6. Step 4 – Check URLs, Headers, Titles, Meta Descriptions, Keywords, Image Sizes, Widgets, And Sidebars When conducting an audit of any site, one of your main goals should be to see how well it is optimized. It makes sense that by optimizing your own website you will rank higher in search results. If you are using your website as a lead generation tool, optimizing your site can result in more leads with less work. To start, make sure all URLs on your site are 301 redirects and that they have keyword rich titles and meta descriptions. Also make sure you have keywords in appropriate headers for important content areas such as contact information and about pages. Remember that many customers today expect companies to provide them with social media updates which means having good keyword presence on widgets is important too! Step 5 – Fix Broken Links Immediately Broken links are broken. Not only do they frustrate users, but they also affect search engine rankings and can even lead to other technical issues. If you haven’t already, make it your first priority to update or replace all broken links so that your website is accurate and up-to-date. This goes beyond dead page links – images with missing sources and outdated internal pages also need attention. If you’re unsure how to find these things, speak with a developer or hire one to conduct an audit of your site and make recommendations on next steps. Search for common broken link patterns in your site using free tools like Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools (for Microsoft sites). Also look for orphaned files by searching through your file system. Step 6 – Do Not Forget About Social Media Profiles And Other Linked Accounts Any accounts that are linked or connected to your business, whether you control them or not, should be part of your digital footprint.

  7. They can be an additional way for customers to connect with you. Protect your online presence: If there is something negative in your online presence (i.e., poor reviews), it is important to get it removed immediately. Use any and all resources available to you (including friends) who have experience dealing with these issues and know how to get things removed from sites like Yelp, Ripoff Report, etc… There are also services out there who will help remove content from websites in exchange for money. While there may be some ethical questions surrounding paid content removal services, they do exist so it is important that you know they exist if/when needed. Conclusion At all stages of your website’s lifecycle, an audit should be performed in order to ensure it is performing optimally and operating with maximum efficiency. The tips provided above are merely suggestions, but they are what we have found most useful & effective. By combining professional audits with internal testing and monitoring, you can be sure that your WordPress site is working as efficiently as possible.
