“The jungle weeds were crushed down and the moss was lacerated; one patch of weeds was stained crimson. A small, glittering object not far away caught Rainsford’s eye and he picked up.” (Page 22) This setting is important because it tells us what the bushes look like. The killer that killed that “animal” must’ve been skilled because he killed the very big animal. A 22 is not a very powerful, the bullets are very small. If he killed a huge animal with three bullets of a 22 means that is he super skilled at hunting.
“A big tree with a think trunk and outspread branches was nearby,” (Page 33) Rainsford went to the hide in these tree, Zaroff went straight to Rainsford! He light a cig, and than he turned his back to show that he scared of Rainsford, that he is braved and skilled at hunting.. I know this because Zaroff turned his back to Rainsford, and went straight to Rainsford. Also he left Rainsford in the tree so he can have a better challenge.
