  3. CARB Rule Changes Sterndrive/Inboard • CARB Rule Changes for Exhaust Emissions: • New CO standard of 75 g/kW-hr cap for catalyst engines • Allow one engine family or grouping to be averaged in and meet 5 g • fleet average (Must meet 14 g HC + NOx and 150 g CO caps) • Classify jet boats as SD/I • Adopt EPA NTE Zone requirements • Add a hardship relief provision • Require misfire detection in OBD-M starting in 2010 • Initiate a voluntary 5 Star standard • Fix the repower language to not require catalyst engines for repower

  4. CARB Rule Changes Over 500 Hp • CARB Rule Changes: • Large volume manufacturers must average in their over • 500 Hp engines and meet a 5g HC + NOx standard • For small volume manufacturers: • - 500 – 650 Hp - 16g HC + NOx in 2009 • - >650 Hp – 25 g HC + NOx in 2009 reduces to 22 g in 2011 • - some provisions for less costly certification (portable analyzers, • broad definition of engine families, assigned df’s) • 350 g/kW-hr CO cap in 2009 • Allow alternate test cycle (15% load in Mode 5) • No NTE Zone • Boats with over 500 Hp engines must use carbon canisters on tank • vent lines, low permeation fuel lines (main and engine • mounted), and low permeation fuel tanks
