Overview • Following the last collaboration meeting, we attempted to identify specific goals and tasks related to software development and implementation • Focus was on short term goals, primarily
Issues To Be Addressed • Update of the geometry to reflect the current design (CM, RTJ, Regina) • Repeat of some previous studies, and new studies to address some long term issues: • Answers to these questions require both HDFast and HDGeant simulations • Significant work was done on porting these packages to the most recent versions of operating systems/compilersb
HDFast Questions • How is the acceptance affected by the new geometry? • What is optimal length of the BCAL? • How important is it to couple the vertex detector to the forward tracker? • What is the best phi-segmentation for the BCAL? • What is the optimal design for the vertex detector? The Cerenkov detector?
HDGeant Questions • What are the backgrounds in all detectors? • What amount of material can be tolerated along the beamline? • How deep do the BCAL and UPV need to be? • Again, what are the optimal designs of the vertex and Cerenkov detectors?
Software Design • A single geometry package !!! • We now have the ability to create HDGeant and HDFast geometry databases from the same XML source. We can visualize this geometry in ROOT. • Code Development Issues: • What code management scheme will we use? • What make system should we use? • What software governance model should we use? • What should the directory structure of the source code look like?
Schedule of the Session • Zisis Papandreou – Acceptance and Other Studies with HDFast • Richard Jones – Updates to hddm, hdds, HDFast, and HDGeant • Paul Eugenio – Status of MCFast • David Lawrence – Evaluation of make systems • Elliot Wollin – Code Management Systems
