Background • 1980 • The world’s first Wind Farm established in New Hampshire, which consisted of 20 wind turbines. • Currently • There are six large wind farms in Ontario which all produce 966MV. • Total turbines • To date there are over 350 turbines in Ontario. • Houses Powered by Wind Farms • One wind turbine can support the average annual electrical supply of approximately 300 homes.

  4. Objective / Mission Statement • To design a small wind power generating system for urban house hold scale.

  7. Future research • Reduce the total number of components in the assembly • Revise component geometry to streamline manufacturing and assembly process requirements • Improve generator output and efficiency • Assess total foot print
