Tips for System Admins • ADC command line options. Everything you see under Preferences can be set on the command line. • Parameter name is option name, case sensitive. • Allows you to create a shortcut that logs on & runs a specific process.
Tips for System Admins • Other useful settings: • textReverseEnterKey to switch Enter key in Text fields. • For Mac clients, set ‘–shell=start’ to enable documents to be automatically opened • For Linux clients, set ‘-shell=konqueror’ for same purpose
Tips for System Admins • Converting Data: • Inexpensive tool is ‘able2extract’, converts PDF to various formats • Define form with 0 length • Print PDF report & load into able2extract. Suppress Headings/Totals, where appropriate. • Convert!
Tips for System Admins • Checking your appxd settings. Point your browser at http://<appxserver>:<port>, and Appx will respond with information page • Currently only works on the server with IE. Should be fixed in 4.3 • Can set up multiple ports with different settings via –modify option of appxdsvc
Tips for System Admins • Recovering accidentally deleted records • You can use the ‘recover’ utility to try to recover deleted records, if you are quick enough • Syntax: recover <appxfile> <newfile> <deletedrecordsfile> • Watch out for Windows utility of same name!
Tips for System Admins • Can ignore newfile, since we aren’t recovering corrupted file • Design Xfer existing file to new file, remove keys, create file • Deleted records are now available!
Tips for System Admins • Login Problems: • Try stopping/starting the service with Windows Control panel (or kill in Linux/Unix) • Try scratching the USAGE* files in $APPXPATH/0SA/Data
