BENEFITS OF THK BALL GUIDE TECHNOLOGY Title:-Advantages of THK ball guide technology There are two main types of THK ball guides. One is mounted on a round shaft and the other is mounted on a profile rail. Because both types are based on re-circulation balls, the terms used to refer to them are very similar and often overlap. Here is an analysis of the most common terms used for each one. Ball Shaft Recirculating Ball Guide:-"Ball bearings" is one of the most used terms, while it is the least explanatory, and when used in connection with a linear guide, probably refers to a circular shaft bearing. The round shaft version is the original linear recirculating ball guide and is still widely used in low load or light weight environments or where extreme environmental conditions exist. Also known as linear bushes, ball bearings, bushes or "ball bearings" in general. Ball Re-circulation Ball Rail profile:-In this system, the guide has a generally square shape and is specially machined to allow the loaded element (ball or roller) to move along the path of the rail. The re-circulation guide of the profile rail has a higher load capacity and rigidity than the round shaft version and is used for all types of applications, from simple selection and place to semiconductor equipment and machine tools. Also known as guide rails, linear guides, LM guides or profile rails.
Load Capacity This is the most basic specification of a linear guide. Linear recirculating guides are capable of withstanding net forces and moment loads (extruded). However, there are two types of load capacity. 1.Static Load Capacity 2.Dynamic Load Capacity Static Load Capacity:- The static load capacity is the load or moment whose permanent deformation of the raceway corresponds to 0.0001 times (0.01%) of the diameter of the ball or roller. Dynamic Load Capacity:- The dynamic load capacity is a constant load that is perpendicular to the load bearing surface in which 90% of the sample operates for a given distance of travel. The dynamic load capacity is used to calculate the theoretical bearing life. Applications that use linear bearings or ball screws often require precise positioning. That is, the movement component must be robust. Recirculating ball guides and screws can carry large loads, but play or recoil is inherently due to coupling with the size of the ball between the orbits. To eliminate this reaction and increase rigidity, you must apply a pre-load.
