Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) Fuel • October 15, 2006: clean diesel fuel is here.   The new fuel - which represents a 97% reduction in sulfur content from previous diesel fuel - is now available at fueling stations nationwide.  • The new fuel contains 15 parts per million of sulfur, down from the standard of 500 parts per million thanks to changes in the refining process • Existing diesel engines burning the cleaner fuel will reduce particulate matter emissions by 10 percent
