  1. Deconstructing Scholarly Articles For Writing Literature Review Dissertation Freelancers

  2. Reading Practice • Understanding Title • Dig Introduction Deeper • Pinning Down the Thesis Statement • Evaluating the Methods • Analyzing Results The Deconstruction Process Breaking Articles Into Pieces

  3. Reading Practice For every scholarly article that you would deconstruct, analyze and review, keep a pen and notebook handy for the first time or second time read. You must read the text of the article aloud and jot down the essential or cumbersome points, arguments, words that appear incomprehensible to you. But analytical reading is tough, how to do it easily? You can do it using two techniques: • Pomodoro App • Mind Mapping Tools

  4. Reading Practice Using Pomodoro Use Pomodoro app and set the timer for 15 minutes to read 200 words and 25 minutes to read 250 words carefully. This would keep you aware of the time-distribution and the amount of knowledge to gulp. However, do not hurry with it even if you run out of time. Instead, extend the timer.

  5. Reading Practice Using Mind Mapping Technique While you read, let the ideas and doubts flow in and out of your mind seamlessly. But how would you capture this flow of ideas and doubts when you sit down to analyze what is written in the text and what you’ve just read? Mind mapping is the answer! You must use the simple technique of mind mapping how your brain works while reading. This can be done through the rough scribbling or through the mind mapping software that makes it easier for you to record the functioning of your analytical mind. Mind Mapping tools and software such as Coggle and Wisemapping are useful.

  6. The title of the scholarly article plays a significant role as it holds a variety of implied ideas into a single defined statement. An example of the article can be “Texts and contexts : writing about literature with critical theory” is a fine example of how the articles are titled to give the adequate information on what the article would talk about. Your work begins right here from analyzing the title of the article: • Brainstorm on the ideas linked in the title. • Write down why the author has used a particular set of vocabulary in the title. • Pin down your expectations from the text after reading only the title of the article. (This would help you prepare your review of the article later) Understanding Title of the Article

  7. Dig Deeper Into the Introduction of Article The introduction of academic assignments and articles are well-defined and specific that captures the core of the article. It consists of a research question, an issue, hypothesis, and a thesis statement along with a precise summary of the rest of the text. What all is written and explained in the article can easily be understood through the orientation delivered by the introduction of a scholarly article. While you analyze the introduction of article, look and identify the following: • What all factors, issues, and theories are prioritized by the author. • What underlying motifs are introduced before their complete exemplification and discussion. • What specific consequences and particular purposes are stated by the author.

  8. Pinning Down The Thesis Statement For understanding a scholarly article, a thesis statement is a backbone. But many amatuer writers lack the clarity and coherency while writing thesis statement in introduction which makes it tough for the reader to identify it while many of the mediocre writers write their thesis statement as “ The thesis statement of my paper is…”. Through the way writer has written and embedded his thesis statement in the introduction would help you get an idea of the experience and the mindset of the writer. However, when you identify the thesis statement, note down the following in your notebook: • The central idea, motif, and purpose of the article. • The totalization of the article in thesis statement. • The context in which it is securely placed.

  9. Evaluating the Methods Used Since you have noted many essential aspects of the paper, now it’s the high time that you get hold of the methods or methodology used by the author to validate his thesis statement, answer his research question or the approach to the issue raised in the introduction. Take note of the following while evaluating the methods: • What research method or approach is used by the author. • Is there any other alternative to the used method? • Can the research method remain valid for a longer time? • Is the method reliable for understanding the complexities of the posed research question or thesis statement?

  10. Analyzing the Results Since you have now noted many essential aspects of the paper, now it’s the high time that you get hold of the methods or methodology used by the author to validate his thesis statement, answer his research question or the approach to the issue raised in the introduction. Take note of the following while evaluating the methods: • What research method or approach is used by the author. • Is there any other alternative to the used method? • Can the research method remain valid for a longer time? • Is the method reliable for understanding the complexities of the posed research question or thesis statement? Every scholarly article has a conclusion or results paragraph in which the author puts an end to is story. Your job here is to analyze what results or conclusion are drawn by the author and to what extent those are agreeable. Has the author revisited his thesis statement in the end? Has he answered what he initially asked?
