Before We Begin • Student Council meeting this Thursday in Room 206. Meetings before & after school. • Quiz Corrections due Friday! • Review of notes and new literary terms • Present tangible objects • Remembering 9/11
Reading & Analysis • Individually, read, “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”, pg. 178 • Use your journal to answer the Close Read questions beside the text. • When finished with the story, answer questions 1-8 from your literature book. • You may listen to music as long as I cant hear it • Put your journal away, and start SSR when finished
Journal Activity • Take on the Point of View of someone affected by 9/11. It can be an actual victim, family member or friend. • Write a paragraph (5-8) sentences in EACH of the POV categories that we discussed yesterday: first person, second person, and third person • Remember that we are working on the mechanics of writing! Use complete sentences, correct grammar, and punctuation.
Sustained Silent Reading • C= No conversation • H= Raise your hand • A= SSR 15 Minutes • M= No movement, stay seated in YOUR desk • P= If you are ACTUALLY reading • S= Level 0 • 15 Minutes of SILENT reading. • Stay seated • If you do not have a book, you may use one of mine from the shelf, a top 10, or a magazine. • Follow the class rules. • Raise your hand if you have a question or need help! • NO MUSIC
