Route of transmission • spread by dropletor by direct contact with nasal or throat secretions(分泌物) of infected persons • less commonly, by articles soiled with nose and throat secretions • patient can pass the disease to other persons from beginning of the disease to 4 days after appearance of the rash(疹)
General Symptoms will present initially with cough, runny nose, fever, red eyes and white spots inside the mouth followed 3 to 7 days later by a red blotchy skin rash(紅色斑點狀皮疹 ), which usually spreads from face to the rest of the body The rash usually lasts 4 - 7 days, but can persist for up to 3 weeks leaving with brownish staining and sometimes fine skin peeling
General Treatments in HK • no cure for measles • patients with uncomplicated measles will recover with rest and supportive treatment
Preventive measures maintain good personal and environmental hygiene e.g. wash hands properly maintain good indoor ventilation(流通空氣) cover nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing Cleanse used toys and furniture properly Vaccination(疫苗接種) against measles is the most effective preventive measure
