  8. Habakkuk’s Song Can be viewed on three levels: • Past – Habakkuk reflecting on historical victories • Continuous – God’s battle against sin • Future – vision of the conquest of all nations by Christ & the saints

Symbols of Judah • Deut 8:8 – promised land = land of vines, fig trees & oil olive (see also Josh 24:13) • I Kin 4:25 – contentment in Israel & Judah = every man dwelling under vine & fig tree • Psa 77:20 – Israel = God’s sheep (Heb = flock) (see also Psa 44:11, 74:1, 78:52) • Psa 80:8 – Israel = vine from Egypt (see also Jer 2:21, Ezek 15:6, Hos 10:1) • Jer 3:24 – flocks and herds = sons & daughters of Israel • Jer 11:16-17 – Judah = olive tree planted by God • Jer 24 – Good & Evil figs = captivity of Judah
