First activity • On page 147 in the book, please read under the Religious Traditions Section. • After reading, answer the following questions: • Who was the creator of the Taoist philosophy? • A Chinese thinker named Laozi • How did Taoism affect the people and how they lived? • You should live your life in harmony (balance) with nature • You will be happy if you live a balanced life • Love nature • Simple and selfless life
Taoism and Children’s Stories • On the handout, match the example of Taoism found in a children’s story to the philosophy of Taoism. • After you have matched all of the examples, on the back of your paper explain how the children’s story illustrates each Taoist philosophy.
