What are the good and bad things about the internet? • The internet is a great place to have fun • Finding useful information • Playing games • Keeping in touch with family and friends • Online shopping • Having fun • Hackers • Inappropriate searches • Meeting up with anonymous people • Giving away personal information Can you think of any other good or bad things about the internet?

  3. The downside’s to internet… • I’m sure at least one of • you have used these • once or twice before and • if you have you • have probably played • online. Even though the internet is fun, it could also lead to disaster. Some people don’t use the internet the same way you do. There are many people who pretend how old they are or what there name is just to find out how old or where you are.

  4. Most of these games are rated 12-18 and for a reason • These online games can lead to unknown people trying to get your personal information such as: address, phone number, full name etc. • Even though these games are rated 12 and over, with parental supervision, you can play them all

  5. These are some apps that you can use without a parent or guardian watching.

  6. Have you ever had anyone ask for your personal information? Did you get that uh-oh feeling? Did you know them? Ignore them . Even though you may think you know them don’t risk it. Golden Rules: Don’t reply! Tell an adult! Block and report the bully to the website! Take a screenshot of the message

Websites to call or visit if you ever need help • CEOP • They do not help with cyber bullying but they do help with strange questions like if someone asks you to do something that makes you feel unsure. • Child line • Watch informational videos and find out how to deal with cyber bullying. https://www.childline.org.uk/get-support/ • POLICE-999 • If it is an emergency that needs to be dealt with immediately, call the police.

  8. There Are many different ways to use the internet, some not as great as others. If you see anything that doesn’t seem right , report it to a sensible adult that you trust. How to use the internet safely
