Class Description • Learner level: C1 • Skills trained: Listening,Speaking, Reading and Writing • Prerequisite: These lessons can either be taught by a teacher of Biology and English or by an English teacher in cooperation with a Biology teacher. Another important prerequisite is the access to computers for all students including head sets. Furthermore a beamer will be needed. • Personal aim: My aim is to combine new media tools with lively speaking and writing activities in class. Movies and virtual journeys should animate the students to seriously deal with “Organic farming“ which is a “hot“ topic.
Lesson I + II: Aims After the first and second lesson students should… I • understand what the term organic farming implies • be able to explain the situation in Austria • be able to combine theory and practice (cf. handout 1: questions on their own consumption) II • understand the movie “The Meatrix I and II“ and complete a multiple choice task and answer some questions orally • be aware of their active part within the „producer and consumer“ circle • be sensitised to the topic of organic farming • be able to follow the instructions on their handouts for the homework
