Attendance Information • If students are ill during the school day, they must go to the Attendance Office to contact parent. • If students are late, they must check in at the attendance office • Absences need to be cleared within 5 days • Students may never leave campus during the school day without a yellow “Early Dismissal” • Parents may only clear 10 absences for illness, after that all absences are considered “unexcused.”

Emergency cards • Emergency cards need to be updated through the online parent portal each year, so we have the most current information. • We cannot release students to anyone who is not listed on the emergency card.
Homework Requests • Missing 3 or more days, you may request homework by calling the front desk (916) 971-5051 • Missing less than 3 days, your student should contact the teacher by email for assignments or ask a friend • Home/Hospital Instruction is available if student will be out a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks and the doctor fills out paperwork • Short Term Independent study is designed for students who will miss school for 5 or more days. A weeks notice prior notice is needed.
How to support student achievement • Encourage the use of a daily planner or phone apps • Encourage your student to talk to their teacher • Check Q regularly • E-mail teachers • Google Classroom • Weekly backpack checks for organization • Start talking about life after high school Visit universities, community colleges, trade schools, recruiting stations

Repeating classes • Grade improvement: • Students may retake a class in order to receive a higher grade • They do not get credits for re-taking classes if they passed the first time • Both grades will be reflected on transcript, but only the higher grade will be calculated in the gpa • Credit recovery – Summer School/APEX • Retaking a course to meet college eligability • Must retake in order to meet graduation requirements

College Requirements • CSU and UC’s have similar requirements for eligibility • Requirements are referred to as A-G Requirements • Private Universities have requirements that are unique to each institution • Community Colleges do not require A-G completion, 18 Years Old • I encourage ALL students to stay on track for A-G completion
COLLEGE Admissions A-G Minimum Subject requirements are: • (A) 2 year of History/Social Science • (B) 4 years of English • (C) 3 years of Mathematics (through Integrated Math 3) • (D) 2 years of Science —2 of which must be a lab based science courses • (E) 2 years of Language other than English • (F) 1 year Visual or Performing Art • (G) 1 College Prep elective course
College athletics • Must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center before Junior year online www.ncaa.org to be recruited for Division 1 and some Division 2 colleges • NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) many division 2 and 3 colleges are members of NAIA
