    2. 2 Objectives Estimate what a Public Waste Treatment Service costs, define risks, before authorizing Estimate costs for sewer services to development-intensive areas of the County Initial Focus is Central Area and Towns Develop Business plan > including sensitivities. Examine costs to provide services to other areas Isolated package systems Contract systems Examine costs to convert overboard to land discharge Consider alternate governance structures Complete by Thanksgiving – hold communication sessions. Analysis of water and other services may be appropriate later

    4. 4 Highlights Growth - New business, existing businesses, concentrated new residential developments have a need for central or local sewer systems Existing Residential Market assessment - County Wide Septic System Failures Average 140 /Yr. (no obvious clusters) Many can be restored at modest cost Some require mound systems at high cost “Forced connection” is difficult to justify Need to address reduction in cost for mandatory septic pump-outs Onancock’s new capacity can meet immediate growth needs in central portion of county Virginia Survey Indicates Public Waste Water Treating charges from 20 to 80 $/mo for 5000 gal per month of sewer service. (typical rate for residential service - excludes one time fees)
