Subjects (Group 1) • Basics of soil science - Soil genesis, properties and soil functions, (soil pH and redox properties, sorption and cation exchange, anion exchange) - Soil erosion and soil structure, soil water - Soil protection and legislative requirements
Subjects (Group 2) • Pollutants in soil Inorganic pollutants, organic pollutants, risk assessment, binding and mobility of inorganic pollutants, binding and mobility of organic pollutants, bioavailability and toxicity
Subjects (Group 3) • Case studies - Radionuclides contamination with focus on 137Cs derived from the Tschernobyl fallout - Heavy metal contamination in historic mining areas - Waste rock piles – renaturation and possible contaminations of soils - N-input to forest soils
Subjects (Group 4) • Application - Compost application to soils - Liquid manure application to farmland - Sewage sludge application to soils
Preparation of presentation • Overview through literature research • Focusing on the subject: • Short overview about total subject • More detail about selected areas • No more slights than minutes for the presentation
