Lessons Learned from Other Programs Lessons Learned are captured during design reviews and APQP Launch Reviews and tracked throughout the program evolution. Each item on the list is categorized based on the component affected (i.e. Gerotor, PRV valve, etc.) and the impacted area (i.e. Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, etc.). Items that may affect future portions of the program are added to the Open Items list to track. The overall list is continuously compiled and reviewed at each Stage Review. This compiled list is attached to the Metaldyne Launch Process Program Management Module (web-based data storage house formatted to align with MLP). Examples applied to FamZ Lack of heat treat to normalize the parts caused inadequate bearing crush leading to spun bearing Component Affected: Bearing Housing/Bearing Impacted Area: Engineering/Manufacturing Resolution: Included heat treat to de-stress the parts and increased bearing crush specification. Lack of gear tooth relief led to metal shavings going into gear teeth Component Affected: Housing/Gear Impacted Area: Engineering/Manufacturing Resolution: Added gear tooth relief in the housings to eliminate the possibility of the thrust face damaging the gear teeth.
