Example:operetingsystem – windows.k, Macintosh etc. • Programing software: providestoolstoasist in thewritingcomputer. Example: texteditors, compliers,interpreters etc. • Application software: istobenefitusersbythetypicalaplications. Example : MS word, execel,publisher etc.

  3. types of operatingsystem. • Manycomputersoperatingsystemwillfallinto more thanoneof thecategories. • GUI: graphicaluser interface. • Multi-User: you can use thesamecomputer at thesame time. • Multiprocessing: capable of supporting more thanonecomputers. • Multitasking: capable os allowingmultiplesowftware. • Multithreading: allowdifferentparts of sowftwareprogramtorun. • Memory: • Primar memory • Secondmemory.
