What is the Program • Four-year program • Learn about the surrounding areas off campus. • This helps to “formulate personal, curricular and career goals.” • Since 1998
What to get out of this Program • Off-book learning opportunities • Learn hands-on about the world around campus • Learn how to put your skills to the test in the world outside of campus • “The program works to bridge the gap between theory and practice, knowledge and know-how.” • During this four year Program, students will make an online portfolio that can serve as their resume that will inturn help with future jobs

Additional Information • “Students learn about their own skills and talents, as well as the needs of the community, and engage in a service-learning project. • Team-taught seminars include the benefits of a liberal arts education and a course devoted to problem solving skills.”
Fun Facts! • Community service hours are required during a student’s time in PORTfolio • They take Field Trips!! • The PORTfolio Program director is Dr. Hultgren
Externships – a three-week Winter Session course where you will shadow a professional in the field of your choice. This is a great place to test drive a potential career during your sophomore year at college. • Internships – a full semester long experience in your junior or senior year in your major field of study. If your major program at VWC does not provide an internship within the curriculum, then PORTfolio will facilitate an internship designed to meet your needs and interests.
