  2. Origination Of Football • By and large football (or soccer as it is known in the USA) originated in its current form through a series of rules and standards in England in the 1800's. The formal competitions created in England quickly spread throughout most of the world, with the same rules being adopted across the globe.

  3. The ancient Chinese people used to play a game that was pretty much lick soccer, it was called ‘cuju’. The rules were that they had to kick a leather ball in a piece of silk cloth which was fixed on bamboo canes and hung about 9 meters from the ground.

  4. Who made up the first organized set of rules for Football? Why did they do this? • The English were the first to set the rules, it was near the 19th century. The person that set the “Laws Of The Game’ which was approves in a FA meeting (football Association) on December 8th 1863. He was called Ebenezer Cobb Morley. • They did this because there was no rules, each school or person had their own adaptation to the game, they needed to set this because everyone had to play in one way because fights were common.

How many countries play Football as their national sport? • About 60 nations. • Which nations: • Western Europe (from Norway to Greece) • Most of South America • South East Asia (Indonesia To Thailand, Cambodia Just likes to watch it) • African nations, and South Africa • Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq..etc.)

  6. Why do you think Football has become so popular around the world? • Because It’s Not expensive • Its Really easy to play, the rules are easy • It’s a social game.

  7. Do you think there are different ways of playing, or styles, of Football in different areas around the world? Explain your answer using Football terms. • Latin can keep the ball in possession, they are great dribblers. • The Italian is cautious and skillful. They make forward runs. • The British is Physical and direct.
