READ: EZEKIEL 16:1-3 GOD'S LOVE FOR JERUSALEM 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: "Your birth and your nativity are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 16:1-3 GOD'S LOVE FOR JERUSALEM 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: "Your birth and your nativity are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amoriteand your mother a Hittite. WHAT DID THE LORD WANT JERUSALEM TO KNOW? WAS THEIR NATIVITY, PLACE OF BIRTH, CANAAN? WAS THEIR FATHER AN AMORITE? WAS THEIR MOTHER A HITTITE? WHY WOULD THE LORD SAY THIS?

QUESTIONS: EZEKIEL 16:1-2 GOD'S LOVE FOR JERUSALEM 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, WHAT DID THE LORD WANT JERUSALEM TO KNOW? DID EZEKIEL KNOW OF THEIR ABOMINATIONS? READ: EZEKIEL 8:17 17 And He said to me, "Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominationswhich they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose. NKJV

READ: GENESIS 10:15-19 15 Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and Heth; 16 the Jebusite, the Amorite, and the Girgashite; 17 the Hivite, the Arkite, and the Sinite; 18 the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were dispersed. 19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; then as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. Haran begot Lot. 28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

READ: GENESIS 15:15-16 15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete." WHAT IS THIS INIQUITY OF THE AMORITES?

Behold, I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst.

READ: LEVITICUS 18:24-29 24 'Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. 25 For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. 26 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you

You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.

You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. 4 For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly. 5 But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." NKJV

READ: JUDGES 3:5-6 5 Thus the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, the Hittites , the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 6 And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons; and they served their gods. READ: 1 KINGS 11:1-3 SOLOMON'S HEART TURNS FROM THE LORD 1 But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites — 2 from the nations of whom the LORD had said to the children of Israel, "You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods." Solomon clung to these in love. 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

READ: 2 KINGS 21:11-13 11 "Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations (he has acted more wickedly than all the Amorites who were before him, and has also made Judah sin with his idols), 12 therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.

READ: EZRA 9:1-2 INTERMARRIAGE WITH PAGANS 1 When these things were done, the leaders came to me, saying, "The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, with respect to the abominations of the Canaanites, the Hittites , the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass.“ NKJV

READ: NEHEMIAH 9:7-8 7 "You are the LORD God, Who chose Abram, And brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, And gave him the name Abraham; 8 You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites , the Amorites, The Perizzites, the Jebusites, And the Girgashites — To give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, For You are righteous.

READ: EZEKIEL 16:4-5 GOD'S LOVE FOR JERUSALEM 4 As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born.

READ: EXODUS 1:15-22 15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; 16 and he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live." 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. 18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?"

Yes, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!' 7 I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.

Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare. WHAT DID THE LORD DO FOR ISRAEL? READ: EXODUS 1:6-7 6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. NKJV

READ: ACTS 7:11-16 11 Now a famine and great troublecame over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance. 12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. 13 And the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to the Pharaoh. 14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob and all his relatives to him, seventy-five people. 15 So Jacob went down to Egypt; and he died, he and our fathers. 16 And they were carried back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. READ: EXODUS 12:37-39 37 Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. 38 A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds — a great deal of livestock. 39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." NKJV

READ: DEUTERONOMY 1:6-8 6 "The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: 'You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. 7 Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. 8 See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers — to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — to give to them and their descendants after them.' Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine," says the Lord GOD. WHAT COVENANT DID THE LORD MAKE WITH THEM? READ: GENESIS 15:13-14 13 Then He said to Abram: "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.

Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine," says the Lord GOD. WHAT COVENANT DID THE LORD MAKE WITH THEM? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HEBREW CHILDREN? READ: ACTS 7:6-7 6 But God spoke in this way: that his descendants would dwell in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage and oppress them four hundred years. 7 'And the nation to whom they will be in bondage I will judge,' said God, 'and after that they shall come out and serve Me in this place.' NKJV

Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine," says the Lord GOD. WHAT COVENANT DID THE LORD MAKE WITH THEM? WHEN DID THE LORD MAKE THIS COVENANT? READ: EXODUS 19:5 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, thenyou shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

READ: ISAIAH 54:5 5 For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. NKJV READ: JEREMIAH 2:2-3 2 "Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: "I remember you, The kindness of your youth, The love of your betrothal, When you went after Me in the wilderness, In a land not sown. 3 Israel was holiness to the LORD, The first-fruits of His increase.
