Style • The way in which something is said • The main goal in style is to present your information in a manner appropriate for both the audience and the purpose.
Humor • The quality of being amused or comic, especially in literature and writing. • Humor helps create a connection to your reader • Humor helps enhance your writing by making it easier to understand and entertaining
Tone • The author’s attitude towards his characters, the situation, and the readers. • The way the feelings are expressed
Mood • The general atmosphere • The overall feeling of the work • This is the feeling that the reader gets from reading the piece of writing.
Audience • Anyone who reads, sees, or hears a message. • Could be your friends, parents, a teacher, the principal, etc. • Think about who you are writing to…then think about who they are, what they know, and what they want to hear, what they can relate to.
Target Audience • The audience that you are PURPOSEFULLY writing/presenting to. • This is the audience that is INTENDED to hear, see, read the message (a letter you write to your mom…the target audience is your mom…although your dad may be an audience because he reads it too).
