Agenda • Introduction • Alliance Connect Overview • Upgrade Scenarios • Incentives Plan • Evolutions • Wrap up
Network Continuous Improvements • Extension of the load sharing feature to Bronze and Silver • Newconnectivity product where internet is prime line / line is back-up • Newtool to test speed and performance of your internet connection for Bronze or Silver • Increasing reach through wireless(VSAT, 3G) connections • Continuous improvements for “best-in-class” network availability by: • Providing better protection against DDoSattacks against Internet-based SWIFT services • Introducing a pro-active detection of degraded services in the network that would allow SWIFT to re-route the traffic Simplification Increased Functionalities Best-in-class
“Best-in-Class” Network Availability Detection of Degraded Services • SWIFT observed - in exceptional instances - that a network which appeared to be functioning normally could not send SWIFT traffic • These network are degraded and very difficult to detect with standard monitoring tool • SWIFT introduces a tool to pro-actively detect these degraded services allowing SWIFT to undertake necessary corrective actions • Free of charge value-added service on top of the network connectivity • Target live date: Q1 2011 Alarms are generated when retransmission thresholds are reached TCP Flow TCP Flow BAP BAP MV-SIPN
“Best-in-Class” Network Availability Augment DDoS Defences • Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) represent a risk to doing business on the internet • On the other hand the internet is cheap, ubiquitous and open which is a must for business agility • Currently available DDoS defences protect the infrastructure not the service • Cannot ensure that traffic is coming from valid correspondents • The service can be severely impacted • More fundamentally the current defences are a centralised solution to a distributed problem • Very difficult to match the scale of attacks which are now exceeding 50Gbps
“Best-in-Class” Network Availability Augment DDoS Defences • Providing an unique and innovative approach against DDoSattacks over the internet against SWIFT: • By using scalable resources in the cloud adapting in function of the scale of attacks • By identifying end points allowed to send traffic to SWIFT • By being provider independent Valid traffic DDOS attacks Cloud resources Scrubbed traffic is forwarded to customer Internet Flows sent to the collector system System detects the attack Mitigation process is started
