HPC STANDARDS FOR CPD • A registrant must: • Maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of their CPD activities; • Demonstrate that their CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current and future practice; • Seek to ensure that their CPD has contributed to the quality of their practice and service delivery; • Seek to ensure that their CPD benefits the service user; • Present a written profile containing evidence of their CPD on request.
What is a profile? • Responsibility lies with Registrant • Statement of how standards have been met (Pro-forma) • Summary of recent work/practice (for last 2 years) • Supporting evidence (from CPD portfolio) this should include a complete list of CPD activities since last renewal of registration

HPC • Sample audits of registrants taken at random from each section of the register • 2.5% of each profession • Looking at trends, concerns will influence this
CPD Profiles • Name • Profession • CPD number • Summary of recent work/practice (500 words) • Personal Statement (Pro-forma 1,500 words) • copies of evidence
Summary of Recent work/ Practice • Descriptive • Concise account of your role and the type of work you do • Include the key responsibilities • Identify the specialist areas in which you work • Identify the key people with whom you communicate and work with most
Personal Statement(1,500 words) • Concentrate on Standards 3 and 4 - how your CPD activities improve the quality of your work and the benefits to service users • Number of CPD activities undertaken and explaining what you did, what you learnt, what what you do differently and a result of the activity and who has benefited • Use personal development plan • Use the standards
Standard 1A registrant must maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of their CPD activity • Does your evidence include a summary sheet of all your CPD activities? • How have you maintained an up-to-date and accurate record of your CPD activity? • What method did you employ to record your CPD eg monthly portfolio update?
Standard 2A registrant must identify that their CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice. • What different types of learning activity have you undertaken? • How has your CPD been relevant to your work? • What parts of your role are affected by your CPD? • How did you identify your learning needs? • How did you decide on what CPD activities to undertake? • How did you make sure your mix of CPD activiites is appropriate to meet your needs? • How has the mixture of learning activities been relevant to your current or future work?
