ANTICHRIST • “You have heard that the antichrist is coming.” (1 Thess. 2:18) • “Many antichrists have come” (1 Thes. 2:18) • The one “who denies that Jesus is the Christ, such a man is the antichrist…” (1 Thes. 2:22) • “Every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist…” (1Thes. 4:3)

  3. ANTICHRIST • “Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.” (2 John 7) • “The antichrist is coming.” (1 Thes.2:18)

  4. Who is the Antichrist? • “The Beast out of the sea” (of humanity—17:15) Rev. 13:1 • “The Beast” Rev. 11:7 • “The man of sin” 2 Thes. 2:3 • “The man of lawlessness” 2 Thes. 2:8 • “The stern-faced king, a master of intrigue” Daniel 8:23

  7. 2. Antichrist Politically • Man of lawlessness 2:3 • Power of lawlessness at work 2:7 • Now held back, but will be “taken out of the way.” 2:7

  8. 3. Satanic Antichrist • In accord with the work of Satan 2:9 • Counterfeit miracles, signs, & wonders 2:9 • Every sort of evil 2:10 • Powerful delusion to believe the lie 2:11

  9. Revelation 13:1-8 • The Beast= Antichrist • Out of the sea=human (17:15) • Mark of the beast is 666. (13:18)

  10. 1. Satanic • The dragon gave him his power, throne, and authority (13:2) • Menwill worship the beast (13:4)

  11. 2. Political • Given Satan’s throne and authority 13:2 • Whole world astonished and followed him 13:3 • Power to make war 13:7 • Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation 13:7 • The beast is the head of 7 kings and 10 future kings 17:7-14

  12. 3. Theological • Fatal wound (died) that healed (came back to life) 12:3 • A mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies 12:5 • Blasphemes God and slanders His name 12:6

  13. Daniel 7:20-25; 9:27; 11:36-12:1 • 1. Politically • The other horn that came up 7:20 • More imposing 7:20 • Waged war against the saints 7:21 • Will try to change the set times and the laws 7:25

  14. 1. Political • The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time (3 and one half years) 7:25 • He will confirm the covenant for one ‘seven’ 9:27

  15. 2. Theological • Ends sacrifice 9:27 • Sets up an abomination that causes desolation 9:27 • Exalts himself above every god 11:36 • Shows no regard for the gods of his fathers 11:37 • Honors a god of fortresses 11:38

  16. 3. Satanic • He attacks with the help of a foreign god 11:39 • Sets up at the beautiful holy mountain 11:45 • He will come to his end when Michael arises 11:45 and 12:1 • A time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then 12:1

  17. Who is the Antichrist? • If the rapture occurs today… • He could already be in the world and in some position of power. • Who could broker peace in the middle east? • Who could fit and fulfill these prophecies? • Interesting to speculate but be careful. Muslims point to America the great Satan, Catholics point to protestants, protestants point to ?????
