CAP – DDR Vision Statement Civil Air Patrol will be a leading force in America’s drug demand reduction strategy through the education and development of tomorrow’s leaders in voluntary community service for a drug-free world
CAP - DDRP Mission Statement • The CAP DDR Program supports Squadrons, Groups, Wings, and Regions that: • Focuses on drug abuse education, prevention and awareness • Encourages youth to remain in school • Promotes Civil Air Patrol as a positive outreach community service • Provides and encourages positive activities as an alternative to drugs and gang violence

What is the Focus of DDRP? • The DDR Program is comprised of three areas: • Education and Training • School Program • Community Outreach
Education and Training • Provide substance abuse information and classes • Support eligible units with training materials • Regional/Wing Conferences • Portable displays to share the message
Community Outreach Activities • Be involved with base and local activities • Assist in selected community projects • Recommendations: • Red Ribbon Week Campaign • Drug Education for Youth (DEFY) • Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) • Military youth and teen programs • Family Community Centers • Community Health Fairs • Chaplain groups • Parent groups • Base-sponsored community activities
CAP School Program • Fills the void after elementary school (DARE) • Start in 6th grade • Can continue in the program thru 12th grade • Participating schools located in: • AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MO, NC, NM, PA, SC, TX • Conducted during or after school • Allows CAP participation in both school and local (host) squadrons

DDR Strategic Goals • Goal 1: To establish and maintain an active and productive DDR Program • Goal 2: Establish and maintain drug demand reduction personnel throughout CAP • Goal 3: Increase awareness of substance abuse issues and its impact on the individual, community and the mission

Non-Approved DDR Expenditures • Computers & associated equipment • Uniforms & uniform items • Region, Wing, State, Squadron flags • Personalized DDR promotional items • Food of any kind • Taxes of any kind • Honoraria • Encampment scholarships
Non-Approved DDR Expenditures, cont. • Membership scholarships • Incentive flights • Reimbursement for rental of halls, rooms, etc. • Stipends for School Program Teachers • Color Guard/Honor Guard equipment
