ACCOMMODATION • Own Sixth Form Centre • New Learning Centre opened Sept 2008; Library, Careers, Durning Room • New classroom block with 2 ICT rooms opens in February connecting these 2 areas
16 – 19 PATHWAYS Pre A-Level Route • Opportunity to re-take GCSE Maths and English • 1 year BTEC First Diploma • Subsequently move onto AS/A2 courses Academic Requirements • GCSE at grade D/E or above • Recommendation from subject teachers
16 – 19 PATHWAYS: Entry Requirements at Advanced Level • 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above from 4 different subjects, which must include Maths or English Language at least at Grade C • Grade B in chosen subjects is strongly preferred • Grade B is required for Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology • NVQ coaching courses by recommendation after interview
16 – 19 PATHWAYS A Level Route 1 • Choose 4 AS Level subjects for Year 12 • Most students go on to study 3 of these subjects in greater depth in Year 13 A Level Route 2 • Choose 3 AS Level subjects for Year 12 • Continue to study all 3 subjects in greater depth in Year 13
16-19 PATHWAYS A Level Route 3 • Choose 2 AS Level subjects and a double award AS/BTEC for Year 12 • Continue to study the double award and 1 subject in greater depth in Year 13 A Level Route 4 • Choose 1/2 AS Level subjects or a double award for AS in year 12 • Choose an NVQ Coaching course • Continue to study the NVQ and 1/2 subjects to greater depth in Year 13
BROADEN YOUR CHOICE • If considering the 4 AS option in Year 12 consider contrasting subjects, for example, AS Maths, Physics and Chemistry and AS French, or Art, or English • Mix A level with vocational courses (Applied A Levels and BTEC courses)
