  3. Jesse was born in Oakville, Alabama on September 12, 1913.

  4. Jesse had eight siblings.

  5. Jesse’s family lived on another man’s land and shared with him their small crop of corn and cotton.

  6. On July 5 , 1935, Jesse married Ruth Solomon.

  7. Jesse and Ruth had three daughters Gloria , Marlene , Beverly.

  8. Jesse said that he hated to sit or stand still.

  9. Jesse went to Ohio State University in Columbus for college.

  10. Jesse’s dad was hit by a taxi and broke his leg.

  11. Jesse’s family lived in a drafty shack in Oakville, Alabama.

  12. In 1980, Jesse died on March 31st in Tucson, Arizona because he had lung disease.
