  9. Checkup is for All Couples • Dating Couples--over 6 million cohabiting couples need to decide whether or not to marry. • Engaged Couples--only 40% of engaged couples receive premarital preparation. • Married Couples--wait too long to find help, when issues are “critical”.

  10. Four Keys to Success • Discover • Share • Celebrate • Implement

  11. Success Key # 1 “Discover” Get couples to take the Couple Checkup - Taking an online relationship inventory and generating a Couple Checkup Report will pique their curiosity.

  12. As they explore their results, each couple will discover both strengths and issues.  They'll see where they agree and disagree and gain insight into one another's perceptions of their relationships.  A couple needs to know where they're starting from to chart a course for where they want to go.

  13. Tailor-Made to Each Couple • Online--takes advantage of the power of computers and the internet. • First asks variety of background questions. • Selects most relevant scales for each couple from over 60 scales. Including Military. • Result is a tailored assessment, unique for each couple. • Each person takes it separately from any internet location.

  14. Checkup Report • Results in Seconds • 17-25 page Report • Highlights Strengths • Flexible PDF file to review and print • Can forward to Facilitator

  15. Discussion Guide • Suggestions • Couple Exercises • Discussion Q’s • Church Based with Scriptures is available

  16. Success Key # 2 “Sharing” Set up accountability to the process! We encourage couples to engage in discussion in a "let's discover new dynamics in our relationship" rather than "let's fix something.”

  17. How can you create a safe environment for open discussion?  The topics covered in the Couple Checkup help generate productive conversations couples wouldn't otherwise have; conversations that apply specifically to their relationship. * Research Shows that if couple will complete the materials their relationships will improve

  18. Group Report The Group Report gives a detailed overview of the groups dynamics, Strength and Growth areas.

  20. Ideas - What others have done • Create at positive "Buzz" Just like any other program we offer, we have to create a "Buzz" The more you get to participate, the more people will be having parking-lot conversations about the Couple Checkup. • When you promote Marriage Enrichment present it as: • Couples making a good marriage better • Making available a marriage enrichment tool • We can all benefit from learning new skills • Discover the next step to a stronger relationship • Share from the pulpit that Pastor and Spouse are taking the profile and encourage participation. Share a learned insight from your profile

  21. Ideas - What others have done. You can: • Preach a sermon series, over multiple weeks, using the themes of the Discussion Guide as your topics. Have people do the exercises along with you and your spouse each week. • Launch small groups or Sunday/midweek classes that use the Discussion Guide as an outline for 6 to 8 sessions. • Offer a weekend retreat where you "go deeper" into the subjects presented.

  22. Success Key # 3 “Celebrate” • Have Couples share testimonials in services of how their relationships grew or changed for the better. • You may want to consider having a special marriage celebration dinner or potluck. Call it a "date night" and offer a short, fun program and child care.

  23. "Discovering issues is also considered success" • The outcomes, in some cases, might be conflict in relationships that is stirred up • Have Prepare-Enrich Trained Coaches/Mentors ready to meet with couples with more serious problems. • Circulate an approved referral list of counselors and therapists for your leaders to use if necessary

  24. Benefits to Couples • Couple enjoys getting back results • Primes couples for positive change • Personalizes content and scales • Highlights Strengths & Issues • Guided interaction keep couples engaged in the process

  25. Benefits to Organizations • Easy to use for Coaching and Mentoring • Primes couples for your Group Program • Personalizes your Program for Couples • Group Report insights focus outcomes • Connects couples to other couples in your organization
