  2. Frontalis • Origin:cranialaponeurosis • Insertion: Skin of forehead • Action: raise your eyebrows and wrinkle your forehead

  3. OrbicularisOculi • Around the eyes • Action: close your eyes, squint, blink and wink

  4. OrbicularisOris • Muscle around the lips • Action: closes the mouth and protrudes lips • Often called the kissing muscle.

  5. Buccinator • Runs horizontally across the cheek inserts into the orbicularisoris. • Action: chewing muscle, whisteling or blowing.

  6. Zygomaticus • Corner of the mouth to the cheek bone. • Smiling muscle • Raises the corners of the mouth upward.

  7. Masseter • Covers the angle of the lower jaw. • Closes the jaw by elevating the mandible.

  8. Temporalis • Fan-shaped muscle overlying the temporal bone. • Synergist of the masseter in closing the jaw.
