Key projections • Te employment projections show an increase in jobs requiring degree level or higher qualifications of 800,000 between 2011 and 2036. • London residents qualified to degree level or higher and in employment increase by 560,000 between 2011 and 2036.
Key projections • London's working age population is to increase 5.7 million in 2011 - 6.6 million by 2036 • The number of jobs to increase from 4,896,000 in 2011 to 5,757,000 in 2036. • Manufacturing, wholesale, transportation, storage, and public administration declines
• 64.2% of the population are employed (70.4% in London). • The percentage of households overcrowded conditions is between 18% and 38%. ( London average under 7%). • 17% of adults have no Qualifications (11.6% in London) • 36% of adults have NVQ4 (40.6% in London) • There is almost an 8% gap in GCSE attainment from the London average. • An extra 15 people per 100,000 of the population die prematurely than in London overall. • One in four children are classified as obese by Year Six, above the London average. Convergence vision • Employment rates • Average incomes in the bottom two fifths of earners • GCSE results to at least the London average 11 year olds will have at least the same educational attainment • The number of families in receipt of benefits will fall • The rate of violent crime will continue to fall • Residents, particularly men, will have increased life expectancy to the London average
Green or growth is a ‘false choice’ The low-carbon economy could be a real engine of growth in the UK There is a risk that this potential will not be realised Improved conditions are needed to drive low-carbon markets and stimulate investment This should be underpinned by a strategic approach to maximise economic value The Colour of Growth
