Acts 2:16-17 • but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17. `AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, `THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;

Isaiah 2:2-4 • Now it will come about that In the last days The mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it. 3. And many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths." For the law will go forth from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4. And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war.

The church IS the house of the Lord

Daniel • About 580 B.C.E. • Judah is in Babylonian captivity • Daniel 2:44…in the days of those kings Mark 9:1 And Jesus was saying to them, "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power." The eternal kingdom would be set up

The days of “those kings” = The last days = The time of the kingdom

Zechariah • About 520 B.C.E. • Temple remains unbuilt about 12 years • Zech. 6:12-15…

Zechariah 6:12-15 • "Then say to him, `Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the LORD. 13. "Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the LORD, and He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices."‘ 14….15. "Those who are far off will come and build the temple of the LORD."

Has the Kingdom Come? • O.T. prophets said it would come in the last days • The last days of the Jewish system were the days of the Roman kings • The Branch was to build the temple for Jew and Gentile • The Spirit would be poured out and the word would go forth from Jerusalem

Has the Kingdom Come? • Mt. 3:2- John preached that the kingdom was at hand • Mt. 16:18- Jesus promised to build HIS church/kingdom • Mk. 9:1- kingdom was to come in their lifetime with power • Acts 2:16-17- Holy Spirit claimed through Peter that “this was that…”

Has the Kingdom Come? • Col. 1:13- Christians were IN the kingdom in the first century • Hebrews 12:28- the eternal kingdom had been received • Revelation 1:6- Christians are made a kingdom of priests

Premillennialism Wants a Priest but NOT a King • Denies the Melchizadek priesthood of Jesus Christ

Hebrews 7:17 • For it is attested of Him, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK."

Jeremiah 22:30 • "Thus says the LORD, `Write this man down childless, A man who will not prosper in his days; For no man of his descendants will prosper Sitting on the throne of David Or ruling again in Judah.' "
