History • Hal R. Varian is a professor in the School of Information, the Haas school of business and the Department of Economics at University of California at Berkeley. • He is now on leave from the University of California at Berkeley, and is now working as the Chief Economist of Google.
Education and Achievements • Received his BA degree from MIT in 1969, his MA in mathematics and a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley in 1973. • In recognition of his achievements he has received Honorary PhD from University of Karlsruhe and University of Oulu. • He has also taught at MIT, Stanford, Oxford, Michigan and other Universities around the world.
