What does Flag Rugby Look Like? • It is designed to minimize contact between players • It is designed to allow a variety of ages and genders to play together • It uses simplified and modified rules of Rugby • It promotes fitness, teamwork, leadership and that all players have valuable roles • It is fun and allows for camaradarie across teams • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWN_GPzjG7I

  5. Games • 7 Players on each team take the pitch • 10 minute halves • Open substitutions at all breaks • Passes are lateral or backwards not forwards • Tackle equals removing the flag from the waist • Tag and 2 second rule • Tackler can’t interfere with the pass • Flags are returned to players

  6. Continued • Forward Pass and Scrums (6 man variation) and are uncontested • Lineouts (uncontested) • Offsides (penalty and turnover) • 2 Second Rule (penalty and turnover) • Guarding (penalty and turnover) • Delaying the return or accepting of the flag (penalty and turnover)

Me • Certified Rugby Coach, Level I • Coached Rugby for 10 years at the middle and high school levels • Initiated a boys, girls, and mixed team at previous schools where programs were non existent • Coached Soccer and Badminton for more than 10 years • Soccer Referee, Province of NB • Still Active Athlete

The Team and Information • I need 20 Youth to make the program viable • The cost will be as minimal as possible • Practices will be from 3:00-4:30 • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the days I’m looking at and will choose two of the three. • We will play against 3 other schools in this area
