Community Safety Partnership The responsible body for reducing crime, disorder and substance misuse Statutory duty to work together as set out in the Crime and Disorder Act (1998) Police, Health Service County Council Probation Service Borough Council Fire & Rescue
Priorities for 2010/11 • Violent Crime (Focus on alcohol related & domestic abuse) • Road Safety • Anti-social behaviour (Rowdy nuisance) • Serious Acquisitive Crime (Burglary dwelling & TFMV) • Prevent Violent Extremism • We also have a statutory duty to reduce re-offending and through integrated offender management initiative we will focus on the cross cutting themes of alcohol & substance misuse. * All results are until July 2010
Violent Crime (alcohol related & domestic abuse) Target- Less than 80 Offences Results so far- 16 (-48.4% against this time last year) Who’s doing what? PAYP- Gang Workshop in Primary schools RBC- New Rules for street drinking (Designated Public Place Order) Police and HMP Onley- Targeted work with top 10 violent offenders Police, DAAT, BID and RBC- Working with licensing groups Street Pastors- Evening Patrols, Roadshows at St Cross New domestic abuse forum being developed
Road safety Who’s doing what? Community Safety Wardens - Bikeability Warwickshire Police and Local Communities- Community Speed Watch Fire service- Red routes near schools WCC and Fire Service- Safety checks on child seats and booster seats CSP – Monthly themes: September seatbelts, October schools.
Anti-social behaviour Targets- Less than 2914 Offences Results so far- 1024 (-7.7% against this time last year) Who’s doing what? Fire Service, Police, Wardens-ASBIT (Anti Social Behaviour Intervention Team) RBC- Youth Contact Team Affinity Sutton and BEC- Temporary Community Centre Positive Futures- 5 new Brownsover Youth Groups sessions (ANPF) All- Monthly Case Management Meeting
Serious Acquisitive Crime (Burglary Dwelling & Theft From Motor Vehicle) Target- Less than 1245 Offences Results so far- 382 (-4.3% against this time last year) Who’s doing what? WCC, Police, Wardens, Probation - Project TAG Police - Targeted patrols All - Regular Offender Management Meeting Police and WCC - Action planning for Hotspot areas
Other Priorities and Activities • Working with HMP Onley to help ensure Prisoners are supported on release in to Rugby • Monthly Partnership Tasking meetings on all Priorities • Self assessment to check actions against PREVENT Work • New website being developed • Working at County Level to manage the difficult financial circumstances
What Can you Do? • Reducing crime is largely common sense. • Always remove valuables from your car, especially Satnavs and laptops. • Join your local Neighbourhood Watch • Volunteer for Community Speed Watch • If you use your cycle, ask your Local Warden about Bikeability and Cycle fit.
