  2. Read the sentence below. Which two words tell how? What are they? Ernestine hugged everyone tightly, then slowly headed for bed.

  3. An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun. An adverb is a word that describes a verb. Adverbs give us more information about an action verb or a form of the verb be. They tell how, when, or where. Most adverbs telling how end in –ly. How: Tim typed the letter carefully. When: Then I sealed the envelope. Where: All the stamps wereupstairs.

  4. A mother lion sometimes leaves her cubs. She looks everywhere for food. The cubs stay inside. Patiently they wait for their mother. They play with each other happily. They sleep peacefully. The mother lion finally returns. Soon the cubs grow big and strong. Now they travel with their groups. Lions always travel as a group.

  5. 11. A young lion learns quickly from other lions. 12. The older lions carefully guard the cubs. 13. The big lions roar loudly. 14. Strange lions stay away. 15. The lions see a zebra there. 16. Then they chase it.
