0947-0951 overview Selected interval: 0947 – 0951 UT • AE ~ 1000 nT; • Cluster is located at (-16.41, 8.01, 0.52) RE in GSM and repeatedly crosses the neutral sheet; • Bx traces are in agreement with s/c separation along ZGSM; • The order of traces remains the same during NS and SN crossings: no rotations in the Y-Z plane; • Bipolar variation of Bz; • Flow reversal (TE).
X-line detection From 4-point magnetic field measurements: • Magnetic field components in the Cluster barycentre: 4 traversals. • CurlB components: Y-component is positive and dominates over the interval; • divB vary in the range +/–10 nT/103 km; • X-component of the magnetic field curvature dominates; • Flow and field line curvature reversal; • X-line moves tailward over Cluster.
X-line CS structure • Thin slightly bifurcated CS around X-line, j~16nA/m2, ha~500 km; • Bifurcated current sheet on both outflow regions.
