SELECTED AMENDMENTS • 13th – Abolished Slavery • 16th – Created an Income Tax • 18th – Prohibition (Banned making, selling, or transporting “intoxicating liquors” • 19th – Women’s Suffrage • 22nd – Limited the President to 2 terms
KEY PARTS OF THE PROCESS • The bill must pass through both the House of Representatives and the Senate • The President can sign the bill or veto it • If signed…it becomes law • If vetoed…it goes back to Congress (Senate and the House) and they can override the veto with a 2/3rds vote
