One of the tools historians use are called Timelines Timelines – A line marked off with a series of events and dates
A timeline is usually in Chronological order. The Chronology of events is important Chronology – Lists events in the order in which they occurred
Historians also break history down into periods Period – A length of time singled out because of a specific event or development that happened during that time Examples: Bronze Age – Period when people first starting using the metal Bronze. From beginning in 3600 B.C. Old Kingdom Period – The rise of Egypt from 3000-2000 B.C. Ancient Greece Period – Rise of Greece from 1000-450 B.C.
There is also a period Historians call Prehistory Prehistory – A time before humans invented writing Cave Drawing and oral traditions (stories passed down through words) were the ways history was kept
