Road safety  Bus journey times and reliability   Relieving traffic congestion and improving journey time reliability   Improving the working of parking and loading arrangements Improving accessibility and social inclusion     Encouraging walking and cycling    Bringing transport infrastructure to a good state of repair. Key Mayoral Policy Imperatives

  4. ·Transport for London grant ·Transport for London’s own schemes   ·Schemes that are necessary for developments (e.g. access road into Gas Works site)  ·S.106 Planning gain negotiated from developers   ·Regeneration funds (if available) ·Council funding for minor parking schemes and CPZs  ·Area Committee funds for minor schemes that otherwise would not get funded Funding sources for transport schemes in Southall

Funded by the Area Committee with a five year timescale  Reviews accidents, congestion hotspots and rat running routes Identifies 57 possible small scale schemes   Recommends a one-way gyratory system for King Street, Western Road and Montague Way Currently out to public consultation  Funding has to be found for selected schemes Southall Traffic Study

  8. Increased carparking but increased congestion?  Future traffic growth?   Mayoral target of 1% reduction in traffic   Between 20% and 34% of Southall households don’t have a car   Can small scale schemes really transform the situation ?  What does it all add up to?

Improve access to Bridge Road and Great Western industrial estates  Improve access to Gas Works site from the east  Reduce traffic volumes within Southall Town Centre particularly for east – west through traffic: Boadway / High Street and possibly Western Road  Bus interchange at station for Crossrail   Traffic modelling studies due November   Massive funding required   Uncertainty of impact of TfL’s Tram proposal Southall Gateway Link Road
