Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio Yahoo Group Started.

Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio Yahoo Group Started • How to generate some of the extremely complex analytical reports that are supported by the very sophisticated model. Because the IWS is such a sophisticated model that can support the development of more complex reports than usual there is often a 'learning curve' on how to develop these more complex reports. • And of course, how to derive value from the IWS investment. Because members of this Yahoo Group will want to discuss aspects of the IWS that are proprietary to Sybase I plan to ask prospective members to have their local Sybase office send me an email peter@peternolan.com confirming they work for a customer that has a license for IWS. The email addresses registered to this Yahoo Group must be owned by the customer organisation. The web site for the group is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IWS_User_Group/ If you are a Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio User I sincerely hope you choose to join in this Yahoo Group. I am really looking forward to an interesting and lively discussion on this Yahoo Group. Best Regards Peter Nolan From thedesk ofPeter Nolan • 24/4/2004 -- Today I am pleased to announce the creation of a Yahoo Group as the Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio User Group. • I hope this Yahoo Group will become the place for discussions about Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio. • Readers who know me know I have been working with Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio over the last few years. One thing I have felt that Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio has lacked is an active user group that discusses the various aspects of the Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio. • When I was first using IWS I know I would have found it very useful to have a group to discuss such things as: • The various pros and cons of certain ways to customise the IWS. There is never 'one right way' to customise a model as sophisticated as the IWS. There are many choices to be made and for new IWS users it is difficult to know the long term impacts of various methods of customisation. • How to develop the ETL processing to load the IWS.How to perform performance tuning on IWS on the various database engines. • How to develop the most effective and easiest to support Business Objects Universes to access the IWS. • How to move metadata between PowerDesigner (or Warehouse Architect) and Business Objects to reduce the cost of maintaining Business Objects universes.
